In Kassel beginnt demnächst die Zukunft der Müllentsorgung. Noch verschandeln gelbe Säcke das Stadtbild, doch schon bald soll das komplizierte System aus Biotonne, Restmüll und gelbem Sack verschwinden, prinzipiell ersetzt durch trockene und nasse Tonnen.  Der Test soll die Akzeptanz der Bürger für neue Sortiersysteme ermitteln.

2 1/2 Runway Incursions täglich auf US Flughäfen … und in Europa?

Die US Pilotenvereinigung ALPA erklärte gestern auf einer Konferenz zur künftigen Vermeidung von Runway Incursions:

According to the FAA, during the last three months of 2007, an average of 2.5 runway incursions happened every day in the U.S., even though dozens of experts in several different countries have studied this risk and devised mitigations that can greatly lessen its presence in ground operations.

In fact, according to the U.S. Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST), the risk can be reduced by as much as 95 percent with the implementation of new technologies, training, and operational techniques that increase pilots’ and air traffic controllers’ situational awareness. Paired with simple solutions, such as improving runway and taxiway markings with a can of paint, these mitigations can make a big impact.

EUROCONTROL hatte 2007 eine ähnliche Zahl veröffentlicht:

In 2005 there were more than 600 runway incursions reported. This means that there were two incursions every day and one serious incursion every 14 days.
